About This Event

We saw an exponential rise in activism in 2020 – across multiple causes. As online activism grows and standing for something matters more than ever, we wanted to delve into what activism is, and how to be authentic in your activism.

We are aware that some people are uncomfortable with the word ‘activist’ – so will explore our (communal) relationship with the ‘title’ too.

We have a brilliant expert panel of activists across the fashion, beauty and modelling industries who will share their stories and expertise on the subject with you.

Our Panellists

Áine is a sustainability advocate, model and co-founder of the Model Mafia – a lively community of hundreds of fashion models around the world who work together to create a more equitable, just and sustainable industry and world. Áine has worked as a model for over 10 years with clients like Vogue, Elle, Donna Karen and Kate Spade.
As an organiser, her work focuses on building resilient and responsive non-hierarchical community networks that flourish and thrive through collectivism that embraces each individual’s gifts and talents.
As a model, Áine promotes sustainable and ethical fashion, and collaborates with conscious brands to align her image with her beliefs as much as possible. This choice has allowed her to deep-dive into what ethical and eco-friendly fashion really means, from the long term environmental impacts of making fashion, to the labour behind the production of clothes throughout the entire supply change, and what “sustainable” truly translates into as a lifestyle and culture.
Áine is an Irish name pronounced Awnya.
