Health + Wellbeing

Tata Harper is certificated by Ecocert. This certification means they have to adhere to strict guidelines regarding minimum organic and natural percentages.

While they use the potentially problematic language ‘non-toxic’ – they do provide a definition of their intention: “A formula is not known to cause environmental damage or result in non-allergy related injury/illness to people when used as directed.”

Tata Harper also clearly states on their website that all their products are free from GMOs, toxins, fillers, artificial colours, fragrances and synthetic chemicals.

Brand values

Tata Harper is certified with PeTA’s Cruelty-Free and the American Vegetarian Association. These certifications provide reassurance to customers that none of Tata Harper’s products are tested on animals.

While their marketing imagery shows a range of genders, ages and some diversity in skin colour, it does not reflect the full-colour spectrum of society.

Packaging, Practices + Policies

Tata Harper produces all their products locally on their 1,200-acre organic farm in the small US state of Vermont, however, they do outsource some of their ingredients from a further 70 different countries.

Their Ecocert certification also ensures the exclusion of ingredients that are deemed to be unsafe or unsustainable (by Ecocert). Full traceability of all raw materials is also required for this seal.

The majority of their packaging is made from recyclable glass and FSC card. The limited plastic they do use for their product packaging is made from sugarcane – which is a renewable material. They also use biodegradable eco-inks for their packaging.

*Although these policies are not publicly available on their website, they are required to have them for ECOCERT certification.
